Manhattan Beach

Manhattan Beach is a teeny-tiny neighborhood situated between the waters of Sheepshead Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Swans and horseshoe crabs share the waterfront with the area’s human residents. The community values its seaside spaces, and actively works to keep the beaches clean and orderly. Though Manhattan Beach is mostly residential, the nearby neighborhoods supply everything from authentic Russian food in Brighton Beach, to the carnival food and famous hot dogs of Coney Island. Both places are just a quick stroll away down the oceanside Riegelmann Boardwalk. Brighton Beach is also the location of the closest subway access, serviced by the B & Q lines. A pedestrian bridge across Sheepshead Bay provides access to the boats of the marina as well as the restaurants on the waterfront of the neighborhood of the same name. Manhattan Beach preserves a low-rise character in spite of its proximity to the large apartment complexes of Coney Island and Brighton Beach. For this reason, and the fact that most of the land is occupied by the Kingsborough Community College, very little real estate is available. The remaining space is mostly low-rise residential home of all designs, from the remnants of the original beach community of the late 19th century, to newer construction. These single family homes rarely come onto the market. Available apartments for sale or rent are also uncommon since there are few buildings of this kind in the area.
